Great Gilroy Getaway:
Gilroy is a great place to visit with your four-legged friends. You’ll find plenty of dog-friendly lodging, restaurants, wineries, and parks that you can explore together.
INSIDER TIP: To avoid the weekend crowds, visit local wineries that are open on weekdays, including Solis Winery, Sarah’s Vineyard, Fortino Winery, and more.
Stop for breakfast at a local downtown favorite, OD’s Kitchen, or just grab a quick jolt of java from Fifth Street Coffee and enjoy eating outside with your dog. Take some time to stroll through downtown, view the colorful murals and historical buildings, and learn about Gilroy’s past along the Gilroy Historic Paseo.
Drive to Christmas Hill Park, where you can walk around the scenic park with your dog or hop on the paved Uvas Creek/Levee Path and walk a couple of miles.
For lunch, head to Brew City Burgers on First Street and sit outside while enjoying a beer on tap or a handspun milkshake, some garlic fries, and a burger (or veggie burger or salad).
After lunch, drive just a couple of miles on Hecker Pass (Highway 152) to one of our dog-friendly wineries. Nearby Solis Winery is open daily and offers award-winning wines you can enjoy while sitting outside with your dog (and/or kids).
When you and your dog are ready to stretch your legs again, stop by the nearby Hecker Pass Dog Park on Third Street. If you’ve got kids are with you, they can play at the adjacent playground.
