So Much to BOO at Gilroy Gardens Halloween

Halloween is too much fun for just one day—so celebrate all month long at Gilroy Gardens Halloween! When the sun goes down, you can sing and dance along at “The Great Big BOO!” live musical show, take a ride on the Boo Train, and go trick-or-treating along the Boo Trail. You’ll find magical light displays throughout the park as well as craft beers, local wines, and fun crafts and games in the Pumpkin Patch. Open Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings through November 2—and Halloween night too!

Pick Up a Pumpkin Passport for Restaurant Adventures

Put some more pumpkin spice in your life! 18 different restaurants in Gilroy are featuring unique pumpkin items on their menus as part of the Pumpkin People Restaurant Passport Contest. You’ll find everything from pumpkin pancakes to pumpkin cheesecake—and even pumpkin beer! If you get your passport stamped at 10 or more locations, you could win a two-night stay in South Lake Tahoe. Pick up your passport at the California Welcome Center Gilroy or any participating restaurant.

Halloween Beer Crawl: Tricks and Treats for the Over-21 Crowd

Come to Downtown Gilroy for the 6th annual Halloween Beer Crawl on Saturday, October 20. Craft breweries will have pour stations set up throughout downtown, and there will also be German food, tacos, and more tasty bites. Sign up to be a designated driver and receive a special goodie bag!

Find Your Fantasy at the Renaissance Faire

The Northern California Renaissance Faire continues through October 20, with special theme weekends adding to the merriment. Ring in the harvest season with cold ale during Oktoberfest (Oct 5-6), join the Queen and her Court for a Royal Masquerade (Oct 12-13), and win prizes for best costume during Halloween Fantasy (Oct 19-20). Gilroy Garlic Festival Welcomes Top Entertainers and Celebrity Chefs

Even after 41 years, the Gilroy Garlic Festival still has a few new tricks up its sleeve! This year’s event on July 26, 27 & 28 will feature Colbie Caillat featuring Gone West, celebrity chefs like Top Chef head judge Tom Colicchio, and a new Whiskey Daisy signature cocktail. Kicking Off the Summer Concert Season

You’ll find live music going on almost every day of the week in and around Gilroy. From the free Thursday night Downtown Live! concert series in downtown Gilroy (starting with JJ Hawg on June 20) to vineyard concerts at Clos LaChance, Dorcich Family Vineyards, Fortino Winery, Sarah’s Vineyard, Seeker Vineyard, and The Stomping Grounds, you might need to invest in a new pair of dancing shoes! Does Dad Dare to “Brave the Bucket”?

The expanded Water Oasis at Gilroy Gardens now has bigger slides and a giant tipping bucket—and moms and dads can get in on the super-splashy fun too! For an extra-special Father’s Day weekend adventure, sign up for the Family Camp Night (June 15-16) so you can pitch your tent in the park on Saturday night and then enjoy a full day of fun on Sunday. Meals and a movie are also included!

Raise a Glass to Classic Cars

Experience a day of delicious wine, food and beautiful cars on display across ten acres of cricket lawns at the annual Concours at Kirigin Valley on June 23. This popular event helps Kirigin Cellars support complimentary use of its soccer fields by local youth.

Grammy Winner Goes West and Goes Garlic

This year the Gilroy Garlic Festival proudly welcomes Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Colbie Caillat, who will be performing live with her new band Gone West on the Amphitheater Stage on Saturday, July 27. The concert is included with admission, and the park will stay open until 8:00 pm so guests can enjoy the show and all the Festival has to offer. There will of course be plenty of great garlicky food, celebrity chefs, and family fun going on all weekend long (July 26, 27 & 28). Countdown to Splashdown!

The popular Water Oasis play area at Gilroy Gardens, which expanded last year with bigger slides for bigger kids, will be re-opening for the 2019 season on Friday, May 3. Grab your suits and towels and come out to “Brave the Bucket”—if you dare!

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo

There are lots of great ways to celebrate Cinco de Mayo in Gilroy! The Stomping Ground will host “Cinco de Vino,” with live music and a Las Cosineras food truck. Gilroy Gardens will have music, food, and folklorico dancers. And take your pick from any of Gilroy’s authentic Mexican restaurants (including Carnitas Michoacan, Cielito Lindo, El Michoacano, La Hacienda, Los Pericos, Victoria’s…and many more) for margaritas and a delicious meal!

A Dog-Gone Fun Festival

Bring your favorite four-legged friend out to the soccer field at Gavilan College on Saturday, May 18 for the inaugural Paws in the Park Pet Festival! There will be lots of furry fun all day, including dress-up and owner look-alike contests, skills courses, obedience demonstrations, and Police K-9 presentations—plus food, drinks, pet-related vendors, and more.

Let Your Imagination Take Flight

Join the Aviation Day celebration at San Martin Airport on May 18 and discover antique aircraft, model airplane building, and free airplane rides for kids ages 8-17. All proceeds benefit the Wings of History Aircraft Museum.

The Downtown Gilroy Art & Wine Stroll is one of our favorite community events! Today (March 1) is our official Grand Opening as the California Welcome Center Gilroy. We’re still located in the same space (in Gilroy Premium Outlets Building A, near Forever 21) with the same friendly staff, and we still showcase great Gilroy gifts and travel tips. But now we also have expanded brochure racks, an electronic video display, and some wonderful new California merchandise. We look forward to serving as ambassadors for Gilroy and the Golden State!

Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting on December 1

The holiday season officially kicks off when Santa shows up to light the giant tree in downtown Gilroy. There will be vendor booths, live performances, and even a doggie dress-up contest starting at 2:30 pm. The parade starts at 5:30 pm, with the tree lighting ceremony at 6:30 pm. Bring the whole family to enjoy one of Gilroy’s most treasured traditions!

As the sun goes down each night, you’ll hear plenty of delighted “oohs” and “ahs” as millions of lights transform Gilroy Gardens into a shimmering winter wonderland during Gardens@Night Holiday. Pick Up Your Passport for a Month of Wine Tasting Experiences

The Wineries of Santa Clara Valley Spring Passport runs from March 2-31, starting with a special celebration on Friday, March 2 at Coyote Creek Golf Club. This year, instead of limiting yourself to just one wine-tasting weekend, you can enjoy Passport privileges all month long at over 30 wineries along the Santa Clara Valley Wine Trail.

As a Passport holder, you can expect up to three one-ounce pours at each winery you visit during the month. Participating wineries may also have food and entertainment, pour special select or library wines, provide barrel samples, or offer attractive discounts. You’ll have the opportunity to meet talented local winemakers and learn how they produce some of the world’s finest wines—while enjoying special offers at local restaurants and hotels, too!

You can pick up a Passport booklet for just $45 at the Gilroy Welcome Center, Guglielmo Winery, or Fortino Winery—or order online. If you purchase your Passport online before March 2, you’ll be entered in a drawing to win an overnight stay at Rosewood CordeValle Resort.

Spring into Bigger Fun this Season at Gilroy Gardens

The long winter wait is nearly over! This year Gilroy Gardens will be opening on March 18, a little earlier than in past years. The trees and gardens are in bloom, and kids of all ages will delight in re-discovering all their favorite rides, from the gentle Apple & Worm and classic cars on South County Backroads to the spinning Garlic Twirl and thrilling Quicksilver Express Mine Coaster.

You can also check out the construction of the new Water Oasis expansion, which is scheduled to open on Mother’s Day Weekend. The popular splash-and-play area will be doubling in size this year, with bigger slides for bigger kids—and bigger fun for everyone!

New Brews & Artistic Adventures in Downtown Gilroy

We’re very excited about the new Golden State Brew & Grill, which officially opened for business in January. Be sure to stop by to sample some suds and enjoy the new outdoor “parklet”! Celebrate a “Taste of Garlic” During Gilroy Restaurant Week

California is the #1 destination for food-loving travelers in America…and January is the very best month for foodies here in the Golden State! During California Restaurant Month, participating cities throughout the state are offering special dishes and deals during their own “restaurant week” celebrations.

Here in Gilroy, we have so many great restaurants that we couldn’t limit ourselves to just one week—so we’ll be celebrating the “Taste of Garlic” Gilroy Restaurant Week from January 14-28. Fifteen different restaurants around town will be featuring special garlic dishes on their menus as part of the celebration.

If you visit at least five participating restaurants between January 14-28 and try their special “Taste of Garlic” dishes, you can enter a contest to win either a $500 gift card to Gilroy Premium Outlets OR $500 worth of gift certificates to local restaurants. And you’ll get to sample some delicious dishes from talented chefs here in the Garlic Capital of the World!

In the next couple of months, our Visit Gilroy staff will be busy attending various travel and trade shows to spread the word about all the great things there are to do here in Gilroy. In January we’ll be at the San Diego Travel Show. February will be the Bay Area Travel & Adventure Show (February 17-18 in Santa Clara) and the Visit California Outlook Forum in Anaheim. We love sharing the “garlic gospel” and promoting Gilroy as a destination for travelers from around the world!
