Come for the Cars, Stay for the Fun in Downtown Gilroy!
July 19, 2017 (Gilroy, CA): The 16th Annual Garlic City Car Show is just days away, and excitement is mounting. More than 150 classic cars, muscle cars and other vehicles will be on display along Monterey Street in downtown Gilroy. Cars will be on display Saturday, August 19, between 10 AM and 6 PM.
Along with the cars, there will be plenty to do for all who attend. Food, beer, wine, sodas and water will be available for purchase throughout the day. Local bands will be playing at 3 different stages including Stream, Wredhorse, Red Glare, Miko’s Mon’Taj and local favorite Jeff and Juli Strametz to name a few. What car show would be complete without an appearance by Elvis? Yes, Gilroy’s very own Elvis, Donald Prieto, will be performing at the 5th Street stage.
The Family Zone, located next to the Gilroy Arts Alliance at Monterey and 7th Street, offers a petting zoo, bounce houses, pony rides, face painting, and karaoke for kids. Kids and dads will have a chance to climb on board and explore some big trucks on display from Bracco’s Towing and Noah Concrete.
Following the car show, David Jenkins, former lead singer for Pablo Cruise, will be performing a concert at the District located in Downtown Gilroy. Joining David is singer and songwriter Jaime Kyle, Jamie has written songs for numerous artists including Faith Hill and Heart.Walter Egan, who had the 1970’s hit, Magnet and Steel, will also be joining David and Jamie for the evening performance. Tickets for the concert range from $25 – $100. VIP tickets for $100 include dinner with the artists, meet and greet, photo op and reserved seating at the concert (limited to 100 people). To meet the artists and enjoy the concert, the cost is $40. If you just want to attend the concert, you can purchase a ticket for $25. Seating is limited.
