Golden State Visitors Invited to New California Welcome Center Gilroy
January 22, 2019 (Gilroy, CA): Setting the stage for an exciting new year of travel, the California Office of Tourism recently announced it has selected Gilroy as one of four new California Welcome Centers opening in 2019. Located in the “Garlic Capital of the World,” the new California Welcome Center Gilroy opens March 1, 2019 and will serve the entire Central Coast and Silicon Valley.
Formerly known as the Gilroy Welcome Center, the new California Welcome Center Gilroy is located in Gilroy Premium Outlets on Highway 101. As an official state-designated office, the Gilroy location will have new freeway signage directing motorists to the site. The center will also be promoted on Visit California’s consumer website (which receives an average of 1.5 million unique visits each month) as well as various print and digital marketing campaigns and publications, including the California Official State Visitor’s Guide and Travel Planner, the California Official State Map, and the California Road Trips Guide. In addition, the Central Coast Tourism Council (CCTC) will feature California Welcome Center Gilroy on its 2019 visitor map with domestic and international distribution of 250,000.

The new California Welcome Center Gilroy will provide visitors with a true California welcome, featuring extensive racks of brochures and maps, an electronic video display, and unique California gifts and souvenirs. Current Gilroy Welcome Center Manager Pam Gimenez will continue to serve as Manager of the CWC Gilroy, leading a team of knowledgeable staff who will be available to answer questions, plan itineraries, and inspire visitors to explore the state. The California Welcome Center Gilroy will be open daily and will continue to showcase Gilroy restaurants, shops, wineries, attractions, and merchandise.
