History lovers should definitely check out the small, beautifully done Gilroy Museum and its many exhibits and artifacts. Chitactac-Adams County Park is a very significant Native American site with a short trail and interpretive displays. The nearby town of San Juan Bautista, only 15 miles away, has a mission built in 1791, a couple of State Museums, and a charming downtown with many original Spanish buildings.
