A Guide to Dog-Friendly Restaurants and Wineries in Gilroy

Traveling to Gilroy with your dog is easier than ever! With plenty of outdoor activities, outdoor dining, and dog-friendly attractions, Gilroy is the perfect place to visit with your favorite canine companion.

If you recently adopted a dog or have gotten used to working from home with your best friend, you may want to take a vacation but feel worried about leaving your dog at home. We get it—separation anxiety for dogs (and their humans) is real. But don’t worry! Your dog can join you while you visit Gilroy and enjoy the wonderful amenities we have to offer.

Dog-Friendly Dining in Gilroy

Gilroy is fortunate to have many dog-friendly restaurants. You do not have to leave your dog behind to enjoy a tasty meal away from home—you can just dine al fresco. Thanks to COVID-19, many of Gilroy’s restaurants now have outdoor seating available all year round.

If you are feeling carnivorous, follow your nose (and your dog’s) to some tasty barbecue at BBQ 152, named for the local highway that runs through town.

There are plenty of dog-friendly places to eat in Gilroy on First Street (Highway 152 West), with easy access to some amazing wineries and parks nearby. You can enjoy a fantastic drink, appetizer, or entrée at a local favorite, Westside Grill, while you and your dog listen to the babbling fountain in the courtyard. For a more casual meal, stop by Brew City Burgers and sample the tasty garlic fries and a fresh brew on tap or their signature boysenberry shake.

For flavorful Mexican fare along First Street, follow the Gilroy Taco Trail to Los Junior’s Mariscos or Victoria’s Mexican Restaurant. For an Italian meal, try Mama Mia’s (small dogs only, please). Sample some Thai cuisine at Pineapple Village or seafood one of Gilroy’s newest restaurants, Jellyfish Seafood Bar. For another new local restaurant with an upscale menu, dine at Relish. Dogs are welcome to join you outdoors at all these locations.

If you prefer to walk around downtown Gilroy with your dog while enjoying the historical buildings and colorful murals, you can sidewalk-dine at The Milias Restaurant, a historical hotel-turned-restaurant. You are in the Garlic Capital of the World, so you might want to check out the garlicky food at another local favorite downtown, Garlic City Café.

For wonderful Mexican food where your dog can join you, visit Station 55 (in the old firehouse) or Los Pericos, both located on Fifth Street. If you are winding down your evening, relax with your dog and grab a craft beer at Promised Land Brewing Company or enjoy a glass of wine at Bella Viva Enoteca E Caffe. Whatever your taste, Gilroy offers fantastic dog-friendly dining where you and your four-legged friends will be welcomed.
